Linda Ann Vela, a 46-year-old woman from San Antonio, TX, tragically died on December 27, 2017, in what was determined to be an apparent murder-suicide. Vela, a single mother of four, was found dead in her home along with her boyfriend, Mark Edward Espinosa, who was 48 years old. The incident occurred in the 5000 block of Sunset Glade on the Northwest Side of San Antonio.

According to police reports and statements from family friends, the relationship between Vela and Espinosa had been contentious. Friends had warned Vela about the danger Espinosa posed, and she had even found a single-shot revolver in his possession and hidden it in her house. Despite these warnings, Vela allowed Espinosa to return to the house for the holidays. On the day of the incident, Vela's 14-year-old son heard gunshots and later found both his mother and Espinosa dead in the main bedroom.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Espinosa shot Vela before turning the gun on himself. The older son discovered their bodies around 1 p.m. that day. The younger children were present in the home at the time of the shooting but were unharmed. Following Vela's death, a GoFundMe account was set up to help cover her funeral expenses and provide for her three youngest children, who were now in the care of her eldest daughter.

Vela was known for her motivational spirit and her dream of becoming a motivational speaker. She had recently completed her master's degree in Organizational Development and Leadership and worked as a caterer. Her life motto, "The power of you," reflected her desire to inspire others and help them achieve their potential.

The tragic loss of Linda Ann Vela left a significant impact on her family and friends, who remembered her as a caring and inspirational person. The community rallied around her children, offering support and condolences during this difficult time.
