Ray Edward Kovar, a 34-year-old male deputy sheriff with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department in Texas, was killed in the line of duty on June 20, 1982. Deputy Kovar and his partner were responding to a call for assistance on a prowler at a local business in New Hope, TX. Upon their arrival, the officers split up to search the premises.
