Bo Gene Swetlik, a 33-year-old man from Killeen, Texas, was tragically shot and killed on March 4, 2016. He was found in the 4500 block of Lake Road around 6:30 a.m., suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save him, emergency crews were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead at 7:30 a.m. His body was later sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
The police released a photo of a man they wanted to speak with regarding the incident, as he was seen in the area where the shooting occurred. This was the second homicide in Killeen for the year 2016.
Following the incident, Killeen police continued their investigation and sought information from the public. A tip to Bell County Crime Stoppers eventually led to the arrest of Torico James Devon Crutcher, a 19-year-old man, who was found in Tennessee and had been on the run since the day of the shooting. Crutcher was arrested and faced charges related to the murder of Bo Swetlik.
The case highlighted the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to solve violent crimes and bring perpetrators to justice. The community was deeply affected by the loss of Bo Swetlik, and his family and friends gathered to honor his memory at a graveside service held on March 21, 2016, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
