David Escobedo, a 51-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically lost his life on October 17, 2018, in San Antonio, Texas. His death was the result of a violent home invasion that occurred in the early hours of the morning. According to police reports, the incident was fueled by images of guns, money, and narcotics found on social media. The suspects, who were allegedly looking for these items, forced their way into Escobedo's apartment in the 6200 block of Old Pearsall Road.
Upon
entering the apartment, the suspects engaged in a physical altercation with Escobedo. During the struggle, shots were fired, and Escobedo was fatally shot in the back as he lay on the ground. Another resident of the apartment, John Escobedo, was also shot but survived by jumping off a balcony. The suspects fled the scene, but police were able to identify and arrest two of them: Jose Sanchez, 30, and Fidencio Badillo, 57. A third suspect, Henry Lozano, 29, remains at large.
The investigation revealed that the suspects had abducted a 23-year-old man at gunpoint and forced him to lead them to Escobedo's apartment. The suspects' faces were covered during the invasion, and they were armed with an assault rifle, a snub-nosed revolver, and a handgun. The case has been linked to gang activity and a botched robbery attempt.
The San Antonio Police Department continues to search for Henry Lozano and is working to gather more evidence to bring him to justice. The tragic death of David Escobedo has left his family and friends mourning the loss of a beloved husband, father, and community member.
