Deputy Sheriff Suzanne Lee Kays, aged 33, was tragically shot and killed on January 4, 1989, while working for the Dallas County Sheriff's Department in Texas. She was escorting a homeless man who had just been released from jail from the Lew Sterrett Justice Center when he suddenly attacked her.
