James Lil James Edwards, a 14-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on September 23, 1990, in Vernon, Texas. The incident occurred in the early morning hours when an unknown intruder broke into the apartment where James and his family lived. The intruder shot James and his 12-year-old brother, Derrick Jackson, while they were sleeping. Their mother, Linda Jackson, who fought off the attacker, was also shot several times but miraculously survived.
