Deputy Sheriff Joseph Norman Dennis, aged 35, was shot and killed on May 22, 2001, in Houston, Texas. Dennis, who served with the Harris County Sheriff's Office for 14 years, responded to a domestic disturbance call involving a brother and sister. The brother had taken the sister's car without permission and returned it damaged the next morning.
