On June 3, 2023, at approximately 11:40 p.m., 35-year-old Marco Alberto was fatally shot at Sauceno Taqueria, located at 13150 Bissonnet Street in Houston's Alief area. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, an altercation occurred between Alberto and another man, identified as 45-year-old Juan Ramos-Lopez. During the confrontation, Ramos-Lopez allegedly shot Alberto multiple times. Deputies arrived to find Alberto with several gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses at the taqueria identified Ramos-Lopez as the shooter. After the incident, he fled the scene in a vehicle but was apprehended shortly thereafter when he crashed his car nearby. Law enforcement officers took him into custody without further incident. As of June 4, 2023, Ramos-Lopez has been charged with murder in connection with Alberto's death.
