Waqar Hasan, a 46-year-old Muslim Pakistani immigrant, was fatally shot on September 15, 2001, while grilling hamburgers at his convenience store in Dallas, Texas. The tragic incident occurred just days after the September 11 attacks, and Hasan became a victim of a hate crime committed by Mark Anthony Stroman, a 31-year-old laborer who went on a shooting spree targeting people he believed to be of Middle Eastern descent.
