Arthur Riggins, aged 66, was tragically killed on May 1, 2017, in Dallas, Texas. He was the godfather of Derick Lamont Brown, who was involved in a violent incident that led to Riggins' death. Brown, a former Chairman of the Dallas chapter of the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense, shot and killed Riggins in their shared home. After killing Riggins, Brown also shot at his neighbor, paramedics who arrived at the scene, and police officers before ultimately taking his own life.
