Antoine Lamar Hodge, a 23-year-old male of African American ethnicity from Dallas, Texas, tragically died on March 29, 2016. Antoine was shot once in the chest outside an apartment complex at 5880 Bernal in Dallas, Texas. He was at the complex with his brother Chevis to witness a fight between two women, Dajee Dillard and Jelicia Linwood. Unfortunately, Antoine succumbed to his injuries.
The incident occurred as a result of a dispute between Dillard and Linwood, who were both exotic
dancers at the Dallas Cabaret North Club. Linwood and her girlfriend, Shundale Taylor, also known as "Tootie," arrived at the club and harassed Dillard during her performance. The dispute escalated, leading to a planned fistfight between Dillard and Linwood. During the fight, Taylor fired into the crowd, hitting Antoine Hodge.
Shundale Taylor was later convicted of murder and sentenced to 26 years in prison for her role in Antoine's death. The ballistics expert testified that the bullet that killed Antoine was fired from Taylor's gun. The court affirmed Taylor's conviction, rejecting her claims of insufficient evidence and errors in the trial process.
Antoine Hodge's death was a tragic outcome of a dispute that spiraled out of control, leading to a senseless act of violence. His family and friends continue to mourn his loss, and the legal proceedings have brought some measure of justice for his untimely death.
