Erin Elizabeth Edwards, a 24-year-old female soldier, tragically died on July 25, 2004, in Killeen, Texas. She was found shot in the head on the front porch of her home. The incident was initially investigated as a murder-suicide. Erin's estranged husband, Sgt. William McKinley Edwards, also 24, was found dead in a nearby parking lot with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both soldiers had served with the 4th Infantry Division in Iraq before returning to Fort Hood.
