Sarah Yaser Said, a 17-year-old girl of Egyptian-American ethnicity, tragically lost her life on January 1, 2008, in Irving, Texas. She and her 18-year-old sister, Amina Said, were fatally shot by their father, Yaser Abdel Said, in what was described as an "honor killing." The motive behind the killings was Yaser Said's belief that his daughters had dishonored the family by dating non-Muslim boys and refusing arranged marriages.
