On January 19, 2024, at approximately 8:50 p.m., the Irving Police Department responded to a shooting at the Park Springs Apartments in the 2000 block of West Irving Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found 55-year-old Juana Medina Rodriguez deceased at the scene. Her daughter, 23-year-old Nayeli Bolaños Medina, was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators identified 33-year-old Hector Vicente Paguada, also known as Hector Matute, as the primary suspect. Paguada was reportedly in a relationship with Nayeli Medina, and the two had recent disputes over a car title. Tragically, Medina's 5-year-old son was present during the shooting and witnessed the murders.
Following the incident, authorities issued a capital murder warrant for Paguada's arrest. In the subsequent investigation, several individuals were arrested for assisting Paguada in evading capture. On January 27, 2024, police arrested 34-year-old Nicolle Martinez Tome and 30-year-old Yudi Mabel Paguada Ruiz, charging them with tampering with evidence. Both women allegedly helped Paguada avoid arrest and disposed of evidence related to the crime.
In April 2024, authorities arrested 32-year-old Yeferi Josue Aguilera Hernandez on charges of hindering the apprehension of a known felon. Shortly thereafter, on April 30, 2024, 30-year-old Escarleth Mejia was also taken into custody for assisting Paguada in fleeing the city after the murders.
Despite these arrests, as of December 2024, Hector Vicente Paguada remains at large. Law enforcement agencies continue to seek information regarding his whereabouts and urge the public to report any sightings immediately. Authorities caution against approaching Paguada, considering him armed and dangerous.
