In the quiet evening of May 24, 2022, the life of 21-year-old Donte Moore, a Black/African American male from Fort Washington, Maryland, was tragically cut short. Just after 9:00 p.m., the sounds of gunfire pierced the air in the 8100 block of Bernard Drive, a residential street in his hometown. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a grim sight: Moore was inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite any efforts to help him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately took charge of the investigation, classifying Moore's death as a homicide. Detectives began the arduous process of piecing together the events that led to the fatal shooting. They are actively working to identify a suspect or suspects and to understand the motive behind this violent act.
