Juan Carlos Gutierrez, a 47-year-old Latino man, was killed by gunfire in the first hours of September 4, 2020, in a quiet Alhambra neighborhood near 2312 Westminster Avenue.
Just after midnight, the stillness broke when police were called to the area around Westminster Drive and Ramona Road. When officers arrived, they found Gutierrez down on or near the sidewalk, shot, and beyond saving; he was declared dead at the scene as investigators began sealing off the street and searching for whatever had been left behind in the dark.
