Raymond Keith "Ray" Jacoby, a 56-year-old man of Caucasian ethnicity, was found dead on March 31, 2011, at the front gate of the Mexia Recycling Plant, which he owned and operated in Mexia, Texas. He had suffered a gunshot wound to his chest and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The initial investigation into his death stalled, but in November 2013, the Texas Rangers revisited the case along with investigators from the Mexia Police Department.
