Billy F. "Bubba" Kennedy, a 38-year-old white male, was a Deputy Sheriff with the Upton County Sheriff's Department in Texas. On the night of October 2, 2013, he responded to a larceny call at a convenience store on South Burleson Avenue in McCamey, Texas. Upon arrival, Deputy Kennedy encountered a male suspect, and an exchange of gunfire ensued. Despite being mortally wounded, Deputy Kennedy managed to return fire and wound the suspect.
