Phetkeo Phetkeo, a 52-year-old male of Laotian ethnicity, tragically lost his life on June 7, 2014, in Amarillo, Texas. He was killed in what was determined to be an apparent double homicide at his home located at 1216 Jasmine Street. The incident occurred around 12:13 a.m. when police responded to reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, they discovered Phetkeo Phetkeo with a gunshot wound, and his wife, 45-year-old Phonsavahn Phetsavahn, also suffering from a gunshot wound.
Phonsavahn Phetsavahn was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The Amarillo Police Department swiftly launched an investigation into the murders. On June 18, 2014, they issued two murder warrants for Nga Lone Aung, a 38-year-old male, who was identified as the suspect. Investigators received information that Aung was in Liberal, Kansas, and coordinated with local authorities to arrest him. Nga Lone Aung was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Seward County Jail in Liberal.
The case proceeded to court, and Nga Lone Aung faced capital murder charges for the double homicide. His trial was scheduled for December 2017 in Potter County. The investigation and legal proceedings continued as authorities sought justice for Phetkeo Phetkeo and Phonsavahn Phetsavahn.
The Amarillo Police Department's Special Crimes Unit continued to investigate the case, urging anyone with information to come forward. The community was deeply affected by the tragic loss of Phetkeo Phetkeo and his wife, and efforts were made to ensure that the perpetrators were held accountable for their actions.
