Larry Steven Guzman, a 40-year-old Hispanic male from Killeen, Texas, tragically lost his life on February 22, 2015. He was fatally shot by Ata-se Giffa, a 30-year-old soldier stationed at Fort Hood, during a murder-suicide incident. The incident occurred in the 1700 block of Godman Street in Killeen.
Guzman was one of three victims killed by Giffa before he turned the weapon on himself. The other victims included Lydia Farina, 31, and Dawn Giffa, 28, Ata-se Giffa's wife.
A fourth person, a 41-year-old woman, was seriously injured but survived.
The Killeen Police Department and the Army's Criminal Investigations Division launched an investigation into the incident. The investigation revealed that Giffa had a history of domestic disturbances and had been involved in a previous murder-suicide incident earlier in the year.
