Abraham Grimaldo, a 21-year-old Hispanic male from Houston, Texas, tragically died on May 3, 2016, from multiple gunshot wounds. Grimaldo was involved in a fatal shooting incident at a Sonic restaurant located at 1511 Wirt Road. The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. when Grimaldo and two other men, Anibal Hernandez and Angel Rivera, were meeting Eric Torres for a drug deal.
During the encounter, Torres realized he was about to be robbed and fired several shots at Grimaldo, striking him multiple times. Hernandez, who was armed with an AR-15, also fired several shots, killing Torres. Grimaldo was then placed in a car by Hernandez and Rivera and taken to Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Following the incident, the Houston Police Department launched an investigation. On August 25, 2016, Anibal Hernandez and Angel Rivera were arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths of Eric Torres and Abraham Grimaldo. The investigation revealed that Hernandez and Rivera had intended to rob Torres during the drug deal, which led to the tragic outcome.
The suspects, both Hispanic males, were identified as Anibal Hernandez, 21 years old, and Angel Rivera, 29 years old. The case was handled by the HPD Homicide Division, and the suspects were charged in the 174th State District Court.
