On the evening of May 16, 2024, at approximately 9 p.m., Houston police responded to reports of a shooting at a hotel located on the service road of 6 North Sam Houston Parkway East (Beltway 8). Upon arrival, officers discovered 24-year-old Edmund Parker unresponsive in a hotel room, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Investigations revealed that the incident began with an exchange of gunfire between a male suspect and an unidentified individual in the hotel's courtyard. The suspect then moved to the parking lot, where he engaged in a second shootout with Parker, resulting in Parker's fatal injury. After the shooting, the initial unidentified individual fled the scene and remains unidentified. The suspect also fled in an unknown direction.
Through further investigation, authorities identified the suspect as 25-year-old Ibyron Dmikkelo Faulkner. A warrant for his arrest was issued on June 12, 2024. Faulkner was apprehended on August 10, 2024, and subsequently charged with murder in the 180th State District Court for his role in Parker's death, along with two unrelated felony charges.
Edmund Parker, born on July 1, 1999, in Houston, Texas, was remembered as a devoted father and a man of faith. He graduated from Westfield High School and earned an HVAC Certificate from Tulsa Welding School. Parker was a member of New Light Christian Center and later continued his spiritual journey at New Jerusalem Whole Truth Church. He is survived by his father, Edmund Parker Sr.; his two daughters, Hailee Yvette Parker and Nami Evette Parker; and several siblings and extended family members.
The tragic loss of Edmund Parker has deeply affected his family and the Houston community. As the legal process proceeds, his loved ones continue to mourn and seek justice for his untimely death.
