On February 22, 2018, in Houston, Texas, 59-year-old African American male Frederick Hicks was fatally shot at his residence located at 12101 Fondren. At the time of the incident, Frederick Hicks was in his apartment with his girlfriend and 28-year-old Travaee Unique Bradley, who is the niece of Hicks's girlfriend.
