Ronnie Horaney, a 54-year-old male of Lebanese descent, was tragically murdered on May 30, 2016, in Longview, Texas. On Memorial Day, Horaney was at his Tryon Road residence when he answered the door around 7 p.m. and was gunned down. His family, including his children, were present at the house and witnessed the horrifying event. Horaney was found with multiple gunshot wounds and later died at a local hospital.
An autopsy confirmed that he died from gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Horaney was a prominent businessman in Longview, co-owning Horaney's Feed Store, a family business established by his grandfather in 1940. He was well-respected in the community and known for his dedication to his family and business. The investigation into his murder revealed that the motive was likely a family dispute. On June 10, 2016, a cooperating individual informed investigators that Reza Kamali, an 87-year-old male from Longview, had solicited them to murder Horaney two years prior. Kamali allegedly wanted Horaney killed "up close and personal" due to the family dispute and had offered a large sum of money for the murder.
In April 2024, Kamali was arrested and charged with murder. His bond was set at $7.5 million. Alongside Kamali, two other individuals were charged in connection with Horaney's murder. Alfredo Lizcano, a 38-year-old male, was arrested in Dallas County and charged with murder. His bond was set at $10 million. Lizcano's half-brother, Rene Paul Garcia Jr., a 26-year-old male, was also charged with murder. Garcia was already in federal custody for a separate charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance. The investigation revealed that Kamali had met with Lizcano and Garcia in Dallas shortly after the murder, further implicating them in the crime.
The arrests and charges brought some relief to Horaney's family and the Longview community, who had been seeking justice for nearly eight years. The case involved extensive collaboration between multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Texas Rangers and the Gregg County Sheriff's Office.
