Iris Rodriguez, a 7-year-old girl from San Antonio, Texas, tragically lost her life on June 1, 2016. She was fatally shot in the head while walking with her family near Cuellar Park on the West Side of San Antonio. Iris was taken to University Hospital but succumbed to her injuries the following day.
The incident led to a significant investigation, and three suspects were identified. Frank Gomez, 28, and Manuel Watson, 22, were both indicted on capital murder charges.
A third suspect, Jonathan Campos, 22, was also arrested but tragically committed suicide in the Bexar County Jail while awaiting trial. Another individual, Peter Gonzalez, was arrested in connection with the case but has not been indicted.
