Jamor Durrell Lee, a 30-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically passed away on September 28, 2016, in Amarillo, Texas. He was brutally beaten to death by at least two men at Eastridge School Park. When officers arrived at the scene, they found citizens providing first aid to Lee, who was later taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Amarillo Police Department's Special Crimes Unit launched an investigation into the incident.
Witnesses reported that two Burmese men assaulted Lee and fled the scene in a red four-door Ford SUV. The police released photos of the suspects and the suspect vehicle in hopes of identifying them. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed the following day in Lubbock.
Two suspects, 23-year-old Hrang Lian Mang and 19-year-old David Sui Cue Lian, were arrested in connection with Lee's death. Mang was charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, while Lian faced murder charges. Both suspects were booked into the Potter County Jail. The investigation continued as the police sought additional information from the public.
The tragic death of Jamor Lee shook the Amarillo community, and the efforts to bring justice for him highlighted the importance of community cooperation in solving such heinous crimes.
