Lawrence Michael Hart, a 19-year-old male from Amarillo, Texas, tragically lost his life on October 29, 2022. Lawrence was shot at a home in the 1900 block of NW 18th Avenue in Amarillo. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while two other victims were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m., and Lawrence's death was ruled a homicide.
Following the shooting, Amarillo police launched an investigation and identified Bol Marko Deng, a
23-year-old male, as the suspect. Deng was indicted on one count of murder by a Potter County grand jury. According to police reports, Deng shot three people at the residence, resulting in Lawrence's death and serious injuries to the other two victims. Deng had a prior criminal record, including a conviction for aggravated robbery in 2016, for which he served five years in prison before being released in 2021.
The Amarillo Police Department obtained a murder warrant for Deng's arrest, and he was taken into custody and booked into the Potter County Jail. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and provide tips.
