The night of the incident, a
witness who lived with Krone and another victim, Roger Campos, heard a loud noise and saw Guevara pointing a handgun at her. She retreated to her room and told her mother to hide in the closet. Another witness, who was with Krone in their bedroom, saw Guevara and Hernandez enter the room, with Guevara shooting Krone in the head. Hernandez then ran from the room, and another shot was heard shortly after. Campos was found lying on the steps with a gunshot wound to his upper chest near his neck. Both Krone and Campos were taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where they succumbed to their injuries.
Following the incident, Guevara and Hernandez were arrested and charged with capital murder. Guevara remains in custody facing multiple charges, including the capital murder charge, with bond amounts totaling over $3 million. Hernandez also remains in custody, facing the capital murder charge and an additional charge of unlawfully carrying weapons, with a bond set at $1 million for the murder charge and $20,000 for the weapons charge.
The investigation revealed that Guevara and Hernandez were also connected to another homicide that occurred in August 2016, further complicating the case. If convicted of capital murder, the suspects face life in prison or the death penalty.
