Eddie Carter, a 38-year-old male of unspecified ethnicity, was found dead on December 28, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas. He was a Whataburger employee and was discovered shot and stabbed to death in the parking lot of a Jack in the Box on the Eastside off Rigsby Avenue. The case remained unsolved for over two years, with no clear motive identified for the crime.
In May 2019, Juarez Bibbs, a 51-year-old male, was arrested for Carter's murder.
Bibbs was taken into custody during a routine traffic stop in Jourdanton, Texas, after police discovered he had a murder warrant out of Bexar County. Bibbs was charged with murder and was awaiting extradition to Bexar County to face trial.
The arrest brought some closure to Carter's family, who had been waiting for answers since his death. Carter's uncle, Michael Carter, expressed relief and gratitude to the detectives and police officers who worked on the case. Unfortunately, Carter's mother passed away a few months after her son's murder, reportedly from a broken heart.
The San Antonio Police Department credited a DNA match for helping them crack the case and ultimately leading to Bibbs' arrest. The family expressed their appreciation for the persistence of law enforcement in bringing the suspect to justice.
Despite the arrest, the motive behind Carter's murder remains unclear, and the case continues to be a subject of investigation. The family hopes that the legal proceedings will provide further answers and justice for Eddie Carter.
