Joel Yanez, a 30-year-old man from Brownsville, Texas, tragically died on February 9, 2017. According to authorities, Yanez fatally shot himself in the head at a shooting range in Brownsville. He was identified as a mental health patient, but no note was left behind, so the motive for his suicide remains under investigation. Yanez was conscious when he was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.
