Jose Guadalupe Martinez, a 50-year-old Hispanic male, was found murdered in his office on March 15, 2017, in Brownsville, Texas. The incident occurred at Milo’s Tire Shop, located at 2485 Military Highway. At approximately 7:49 p.m., officers responded to a call and discovered Martinez face down in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to his head. Investigators found one bullet casing at the scene. The man who initially discovered Martinez's body arrived at the store at 7:35 p.m. to pay for some rims he had purchased. He then went to a neighbor who was close by, and when the two returned, a third man was present at the scene. The three men called the police and waited for officers to arrive. Investigators later found a receipt from a dollar store purchase made by Martinez at 7 p.m. that same day, allowing them to determine that the murder occurred between 7 p.m. and 7:35 p.m.

Despite the efforts of the Brownsville Police Department, the case remains unsolved. The police have stated that they have "no leads whatsoever" and have urged anyone with information to contact the Brownsville Crime Stoppers. Family members of Martinez reported that it was an ordinary day, and nothing seemed out of place. The lack of a clear motive or suspect has made the investigation challenging for law enforcement. An autopsy was ordered by Justice of the Peace Linda Salazar to determine the exact cause of death, but the primary cause was identified as a gunshot wound to the head.

The murder of Jose Guadalupe Martinez has left the community in shock and mourning. The tire shop, which he owned and operated, was a well-known establishment in the area. The violent nature of his death has raised concerns about safety and crime in the community. Despite the passage of time, the Brownsville Police Department continues to seek information that could lead to the resolution of the case. The investigation remains open, and authorities hope that new leads or evidence will eventually surface to bring justice for Martinez and his family.
