The incident occurred when a gray-colored Jeep Commander, driven by two young black males, approximately 16-20 years of age, backed into the vehicle containing Jessica and her family. The driver of the Jeep fled the scene, prompting Jessica's husband to pursue the suspect vehicle. The chase ended in a strip center parking lot, where Jessica's husband confronted the driver of the Jeep and informed him of his intention to call the police. In response, the driver of the Jeep produced a handgun and fired multiple shots, striking Jessica in the back. She was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The suspects in the case were last seen in the gray-colored Jeep Commander with Texas license plates CN5X057. Despite efforts by the Houston Police Department to locate the suspects, they remained at large. The investigation into Jessica's death continued, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward. The tragic event left Jessica's family and friends devastated, as they mourned the loss of a beloved mother, daughter, and companion.
