Jahmel Luster, 30, a Black man, was killed in a predawn burst of gunfire on May 5, 2012, in St. Louis, Missouri, after what police described as a car following him and his companions through the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood. Just after 1 a.m., Luster and two other people pulled out of a parking lot in the 3000 block of Goodfellow Boulevard and realized another vehicle was behind them, staying close enough to feel intentional rather than coincidental.
