Cutberto Moran-Ayala, a 26-year-old man from Austin, Texas, tragically lost his life on June 8, 2017. Moran-Ayala, who was of Hispanic ethnicity, was killed during a drug deal gone wrong. He had advertised marijuana for sale on Craigslist, and the meeting with the buyers turned violent. Moran-Ayala was shot multiple times by the suspects, and despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspects involved in Moran-Ayala's death were three men from Chicago: Savon
Galloway, 22; Christopher Hamilton, 19; and Akeem Bradford, 22. A fourth individual, Keon Walton, 19, was also arrested on unrelated charges. The suspects were charged with capital murder. Galloway and Hamilton were taken into custody by the Williamson County SWAT team, while Bradford and Walton were arrested by Austin police.
The incident occurred when Moran-Ayala met the suspects in a parking lot to conduct the drug sale. During the transaction, Galloway approached the vehicle with a handgun and fired into the car. Moran-Ayala managed to wrestle the gun away from Galloway and fired back before being shot multiple times. His friend drove him to his residence and called the police, but Moran-Ayala was already deceased upon their arrival.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the suspects faced legal consequences for their actions. Christopher Hamilton was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his involvement in the murder. Savon Galloway also received a 20-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to murder. Akeem Bradford testified against his co-defendants in hopes of receiving a favorable outcome in his case.
Moran-Ayala's death was a tragic event that highlighted the dangers associated with illegal drug transactions. His family and friends remembered him as a loving father and a well-respected member of his community. Moran-Ayala's girlfriend learned she was pregnant with his second child shortly after his death, adding to the sorrow and loss experienced by those who knew him.
