Valente Garcia-Hernandez, a 35-year-old Hispanic man, tragically died on August 20, 2017, in Austin, Texas. Initially, the incident was reported as a hit-and-run. However, an autopsy revealed that Garcia-Hernandez had actually been shot before being run over by a vehicle. This discovery led homicide detectives to take over the investigation.
