Brandon Omar Thomas, a 25-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically lost his life on August 30, 2017, in Houston, Texas. He was fatally shot while standing outside his fiancée's apartment building during the catastrophic flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. Thomas was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire when one of three teenagers pursuing a 13-year-old boy fired a shot that struck him. The boy was wounded, but Thomas succumbed to his injuries.
