On October 20, 2017, 20-year-old Jocelyn Sarabia-Marlon, a young woman from Garland, Texas, was tragically shot and killed in the front yard of her home. She had just returned from work at a convenience store and was getting out of her car when she was attacked. Despite being on the phone with a friend at the time, she was unable to escape the assailants.
The police believe the incident may have been an attempted robbery, although nothing was taken from her.
The Garland Police Department has been actively investigating the case but has yet to identify any suspects. Surveillance footage from a nearby residence captured two men and a small four-door passenger car near the scene. One of the men was described as wearing a long-sleeved shirt with a reflective sleeve and dark-colored pants, while the other was wearing a dark-colored hoodie and light-colored shorts. The car was identified as a small Nissan, possibly a Sentra or Altima.
Despite extensive efforts, including releasing the surveillance video to the public and offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest or indictment, the case remains unsolved. The Garland Police Department continues to seek assistance from the community in hopes of bringing justice for Jocelyn Sarabia-Marlon.
