Patricia Eifert, a 60-year-old woman from Jasper, Texas, was tragically murdered on July 27, 2021, while helping her daughter move into a new home in Garland, Texas. Eifert was alone in the house when she was shot multiple times by two suspects who had broken into the residence through the garage. Her body was discovered by her son-in-law later that evening.
The Garland Police Department, along with the U.S.
Marshals Violent Crimes Task Force, identified and arrested two suspects, Kvaughandre Presley, 20, of Dallas, and Gabriela Liliana Torres, 21, of Garland. Both were charged with capital murder and taken into custody the following day. Surveillance video showed the suspects arriving in a black car, burglarizing parked vehicles, and entering the house where Eifert was killed. After the murder, the suspects continued their burglary spree in the neighborhood and were involved in a hit-and-run accident.
The investigation revealed that this was a random act of violence, and the suspects were not known to the victim. The suspects were held in the Dallas County Jail with bonds set at $1,000,000 for Presley and $750,000 for Torres. The case highlighted the dangers of home invasions and the importance of community vigilance.
Eifert's daughter, Annie Bryant, expressed her grief and disbelief over the senseless act, noting that her mother had just retired and was excited to help her settle into the new home. The community and law enforcement agencies worked together to bring the perpetrators to justice, ensuring that Eifert's family could find some closure amidst their loss.
