Christy Condon, a four-year-old girl from Garland, Texas, tragically lost her life on November 15, 1989. Christy was the daughter of Mary Goss, who was involved in a feud with Daniel Joe Hittle. Hittle, who had a history of violence and was on parole for killing his adoptive parents in Minnesota, attended a party at Mary Goss's home that night. During the party, Hittle left and later returned with a shotgun, killing Mary Goss, her boyfriend Rick Cook, and Scott Gregg.
Christy was found gurgling in her own blood and was pronounced brain dead two days later at the hospital.
Hittle was arrested after a chase and gunfight with police officers, during which he was charged with multiple counts of capital murder. However, he was only tried for the murder of Officer Gerald Walker, whom he had shot earlier that night. Hittle was convicted and sentenced to death for Walker's murder. He was executed by lethal injection on December 6, 2000.
The tragic events of that night left a lasting impact on the community and highlighted the devastating consequences of unresolved feuds and violent behavior.
