Elania Johnson, a 44-year-old African American woman from Carthage, Texas, was tragically killed on February 21, 2018. The incident occurred on Private Road 622 off Panola County Road 222. Elania Johnson was fatally shot, and the suspect in her murder was identified as Jeffrey Mickens, a 47-year-old man from Carthage. Mickens was known to be Elania Johnson's boyfriend at the time of the incident.
