Greta Yvette Moya, a 41-year-old woman of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically lost her life on April 11, 2018, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was fatally shot near the Wendy's on Ayers and Horne. The incident occurred when Moya was at a convenience store, pumping gas and returning a movie. Moments later, she was shot by Crystal Mata, the new girlfriend of Moya's ex-boyfriend, Noe Rinche.
Moya's boyfriend was with her at the time and witnessed the shooting.
He reported that Mata pointed a handgun at them in the parking lot and followed them to Moon Plaza, where the shooting occurred. Moya was shot in the stomach and later died at the hospital.
Following the incident, Mata and Rinche were both arrested. Mata was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, while Rinche faced charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance. Mata pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 60 years in prison for murder and 30 years for aggravated assault. Rinche's case is still pending, and he remains in custody.
