On July 19, 2018, 21-year-old Miles Peters was fatally shot in Grand Prairie, Texas. Peters, who was from nearby Arlington, was found suffering from a gunshot wound on the 2500 block of West Interstate 20 just after midnight. He was transported to a hospital but later pronounced dead.
The Grand Prairie Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting.
Security video from a nearby business showed a male running westbound on Sara Jane Parkway, away from the shooting, around the same time as the report of gunshots. Detectives worked tirelessly to identify and track down the suspects.
Two teenagers, 18-year-old Isaiah Murray and 17-year-old Demauri Jackson, were arrested and charged with murder in connection with Peters' death. Murray was apprehended by Grand Prairie detectives, while Jackson was tracked down by the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force. Both suspects were held at the Grand Prairie Detention Center on $500,000 bond each.
The investigation continued as detectives examined evidence connected with the case. A reward had been offered for information, but no tips had been received at the time. The case drew significant attention from the community and law enforcement, with efforts ongoing to bring justice for Miles Peters.
