Albany Andres Sosa, a 23-year-old Hispanic male, tragically lost his life on September 16, 2018, in Richmond, Texas. The incident initially appeared to be a car crash, but further investigation revealed that Sosa had been shot. On the evening of September 16, Sosa was found unresponsive in his vehicle after it crashed into a ditch near the Lamar Park Apartment Complex on FM 1640.
Responding officers discovered that Sosa had been shot, and it is believed that he attempted to flee after being shot, leading to the crash. Sosa was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Richmond Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting and subsequent crash. On September 22, 2018, Rigoberto Rauda, an 18-year-old male, was arrested at Bush Intercontinental Airport for the murder of Albany Andres Sosa. Rauda was taken into custody around 6 a.m. at Terminal A inside the airport. He had a plane ticket for Salt Lake City, Utah, with a final destination of Sacramento, California, which he had purchased using a fake ID. Rauda was also wanted for an aggravated robbery warrant out of Rosenberg.
Rauda is currently being held in the Fort Bend County Jail without bond. The police have not released a motive for the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing. The arrest of Rauda was a significant development in the case, but many questions remain unanswered, including the motive behind the shooting and whether there were any other individuals involved. The Richmond Police Department continues to seek information from the public to help solve the case and bring justice to Albany Andres Sosa and his family.
