In 1994, 50-year-old white woman Lisa Jaime was shot by her ex-boyfriend, resulting in paralysis from the neck down. Despite medical expectations that she wouldn't live past 40, she defied the odds and continued to raise her three children from her wheelchair. She was a loving mother who took her kids to Six Flags and country music concerts. She loved classic country music stars like Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, and Elvis Presley.
Jaime had seven grandchildren, but her daughter said she took care of many other children whom she considered her grandchildren, just not by blood.
On May 5, 2019, at the age of 50, Lisa Jaime succumbed to complications arising from the gunshot wounds she sustained in 1994. Her death occurred at the 1000 block of Avenue K in South Houston, Texas.
Following the initial shooting in 1994, the perpetrator, her ex-boyfriend, died by suicide at the scene. As a result, there were no subsequent arrests or suspects related to the incident.
