Iris Valentina Teruel-Pineda, a 22-year-old woman of Honduran ethnicity, was tragically shot and killed on September 7, 2016, in Houston, Texas. She was in the driveway of her southwest Houston home, preparing to leave for work with a co-worker, when a male suspect approached her vehicle from behind. The suspect, described as wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, walked up to the driver's side window and shot Teruel-Pineda multiple times.
Her co-worker was unharmed.
The Houston Police Department launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. Despite their efforts, no arrests have been made, and the case remains unsolved. The suspect's identity and whereabouts are still unknown. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward and contact the HPD Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers.
Teruel-Pineda, originally from Ceguaca, Santa Bárbara, Honduras, had been living in the United States for several years and was working to support her family back home. She left behind two children who are now under the care of her family. The community and her loved ones continue to seek justice for her untimely death.
