On May 13, 2019, Jose Villarreal, a 37-year-old Hispanic man from Kingsville, Texas, was tragically killed in a double homicide at an apartment complex near Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. when multiple gunshots were reported at the Utopian Apartments in the 1700 block of North First Street.
