Senior Patrolman Sherman Otto Benys Jr., aged 58, tragically lost his life on November 4, 2021, after sustaining gunshot wounds while responding to a domestic disturbance call in Kingsville, Texas. Benys, a dedicated officer with the Kingsville Police Department, was shot on November 1, 2021, in the 300 block of South Wanda Drive. He was rushed to Christus Spohn Hospital-Shoreline in Corpus Christi, where he fought for his life for nearly three days before succumbing to his injuries.
