Braxton "Trey" Mathis, a 21-year-old man from Plainview, Texas, was found dead in a ditch at County Road 67 and FM 2286 in Floyd County on May 16, 2019. The body was discovered around 11 a.m. and was later taken to South Plains Pathology for an autopsy. Preliminary investigations revealed that Mathis died from a gunshot wound, and the case was treated as a suspicious death.
