On the evening of January 13, 2014, police in Kansas City, Missouri, were dispatched to a reported shooting in the 2900 block of East 22nd Street near Montgall Park. Upon arrival shortly before 9:00 p.m., officers approached a vehicle parked at the scene and discovered the body of 21-year-old Darrin Deon Duncan, an African American male, slumped in the driver's seat.
