In the summer of 2014, a trip for pizza and beer turned tragic for a Kansas City, Missouri man. Adrian Scott Reed, 43, was shot and killed in what authorities believe may have been a road rage incident on the evening of Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Reed was sitting in his white Ford Mustang at a stoplight at the intersection of Bannister and James A. Reed roads when the fatal shooting occurred.
Witnesses reported that a dark-colored SUV pulled up next to Reed's vehicle, and an argument may
have taken place between the occupants. Shortly after the verbal exchange, shots were fired from the SUV into Reed's car, striking and killing him. The suspect vehicle, occupied by a man and a woman, then sped away, heading west on Bannister Road. Investigators from the Kansas City Police Department spoke with some individuals who believed they saw a road rage incident unfolding between the two vehicles just before the shooting.
In the days following the shooting, police appealed to the public for information, and a reward of up to $7,000 was offered for tips that could lead to an arrest in the case. Friends, family, and concerned community members held a vigil at the intersection where Reed lost his life. Despite the efforts of law enforcement and the community, no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the murder of Adrian Reed. The case remains an unsolved homicide, leaving his loved ones searching for answers and justice.
